Arlen Konopaki is a New York City based filmmaker. He is currently pursuing his Master of Fine Arts degree in Film Directing at New York University’s Tisch School of the Arts.
He is a co-founder of Canada’s HighWire Films and has written, directed and produced three feature films which have been screened in Canada, the US and Europe. Arlen wrote and directed episodes of the Canadian sketch television show E-Town which airs on BiteTV. In addition he directed B-unit on the third season of APTN’s sketch comedy show Caution: May Contain Nuts. In 2012 Arlen was selected as a Subway Fresh Artist and had the chance to co-create a web-series entitled The Loop that premiered at SXSW and was featured on IFC.com and MyDamnChannel.com.
Arlen has been nominated for 6 AMPIA Awards including best screenwriting, best directing and best feature film. In his native home of Edmonton, Alberta Arlen was a 2011 recipient of the Emerging Artist Award at the Mayor’s Evening for the Arts and a recipient of the Enbridge Emerging Artist Award at NextFest.
